Northwood's poor run continued in the Middlesex Premier Cup when they went down 3-0 at Chestnut Avenue to Bedfont.
The season started so encouragingly for the Woods when they went unbeaten in the first seven games, but in the last seven there has been only one win and six defeats. Injuries are not helping the situation, and again in this game, two more were picked up.
Bedfont were a yard quicker than the Woods in every department and Aaron Bufton had to make a fine save in the first five minutes. It didn’t take too long before Bedfont eased in front but their first was gifted to them by indecision at the back, allowing an easy finish.
Anton Robinson showed some good speed down the Woods’ left, but there was no end product. Northwood kept giving the ball away and putting the defence under constant pressure.
Mark Adams was forced to make changes early in the second half as players succumbed to injury and play was even up until Bedfont scored number two. Their No.9 made a good run down Northwood’s right, pulled the ball back from the by-line and their sub. fired home.
In the 82nd minute Northwood's defence fell asleep to a long punt upfield and the Bedfont No.8 had only to shoot past Bufton.
